Comfort for All

Comfort in a Small Package
A young friend of mine is grieving the loss of a young man whom she loved. Wounded while serving in Afghanistan, his heartbroken family chose to remove life support after waiting and praying for signs of recovery for nearly three weeks.

The day after his death she sent me this story:

“Today a few friends and I went to the lake and were sitting on a bench a few feet above the sidewalk. This little boy was walking toward us, oversized baseball cap, cute as a button, couldn’t have been older than three. One of my friends said, ‘I want a little boy!’ and we laughed at that remark.

“Just then, the boy turned and walked up a grass hill, stopped right in front of us and looked around for a second or two. Then, arms open wide, he gave each of us a hug. It was unbelievable. Even his grandmother watching was surprised. He walked away with a wave and a quick ‘Bye!'”

3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our
merciful Father and the source of all comfort.
