In Due Time

Wait for Him
My good friend Denise, a staff member at our church, shared this story with me last month. We offer baptisms after each service. On Sunday mornings, baptisms occur at about 10:30, then again about 12:30, after the second  service.

“Sunday morning, [April 11] Carol and I were talking about divine appointments while waiting for the 11:15 service to start and guess what? God showed us one!

“Pastor Sam had finished the 9:00 baptisms. He was dressed and ready to leave campus, as he had a family function he wanted to check in with between baptism services.

“Well…he couldn’t find his keys. We looked and looked, to no avail. Then a man approached, asking to be baptized.

“He was unable to wait until after the 11:15 service, I believe because he needed to pick up his mother. This man was a former Muslim and his mother was not happy about his conversion. Through tears he gave his testimony and Sam…being Sam…headed back inside to change back into his baptism clothes. Carol and I exchanged comments about how now, Sam’s keys would be found.

“And guess what? Sam found his keys in the wet baptism clothes.”

14 Wait patiently for the Lord.
Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. Psalm 27:14 (NLT)

  1. Nice Sheila…thanks. This small miracle was huge in that gentleman's life…and to those of us who experienced it.

  2. Thanks for your kind words. I'm beginning to doubt the concept of "small miracle." I have this hunch that if we could only see all the consequences from His perspective, every single one would be enormous.

  3. What an encouraging story about how God works. Awesome God! Thanks for sharing. Sometimes we are tricked into thinking that our life is full of random chance.
