And Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were amazed at Him.

Sandra Heska King - Still Saturday

  1. Blessings, Sheila! Delightful to meet you this weekend – thanks so much for dropping by my place at The Writer’s Reverie. I am so blessed by the ministry of The High Calling and Laity Lodge. Your description of its grounds as per an earlier post make me yearn for such a place to retreat. Perhaps, some day.

  2. Beautiful, simple, profound.
    Visiting from The Sunday Community.

P.S. Hearing “Dana Point” draws me in as well…I am from San Diego and lived in Huntington Beach and Irvine many years ago as a younger adult. I imagine Dana Point has grown tremendously since I was last there!

    • Thank you for the kind words, Linda. And yes, I am sure Dana Point is bigger than you remember. And funny: I grew up in San Diego and now live in south OC!

  3. LOVE your photo! I could hear and hear and hear them in my house, but couldn’t go around and about. Maybe next year we’ll just drive around neighborhoods and see so much. Omaha, until just a very few years ago, houses having the fireworks weren’t OK. NOW? YES!! And many families pile on many of them… days before and days after. Not easy to sleep until after midnight. Anyhow, as I said, I LOVE your photo! AND would LOVE to see you, meet you.

    • Thank you, Joanne! I would love to meet you, too. My mother’s family moved to CA from Hastings, NE in the late 1930s. I’d love to come back there some day (I’ve been once–in 1976).

      • OOO-OOO!!! To see you in Hastings would be a real treat. AND if you flew to Omaha, you’d be able to stay here and have “someone” to drive you around and about. I entered Omaha from Redwood City in 1974, and been here most of the time, officially. Oklahoma for 2 years and Uganda around and about for the equivalent of 2 years, and driving to the NW and around and about many times. BUT house is here, hubby is here, and kids and grandkids. So, you ever have a chance, we can play. AND you’d LOVE to go to the zoo, considered one of the most wonderful in our nation. I’ve taken LOTS of photos and you would love doing that, too.

        • You are a sweet and generous soul, Joanne. That sounds amazing. I must warn you, though, as a San Diegan, the zoo bar is set high. Really, really high. 🙂

  4. We didn’t see fireworks this year – so I love this picture. You’ve brought the fireworks to me. So happy you enjoyed your 4th and thanks for sharing it with me.
