Weekend Reflection: Sheltered

Lollipop, aka Poppy, Seeking Reassurance After the Terror of Her First Trip to the Groomer

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust!”

Psalm 91:1-2 (NASB)

Shhh. It’s the weekend. Remove your shoes and step into the stillness. Stop by Sandra Heska King’s place for Still Saturday. You’ll join us, yes? It’s rest and refreshment–your very own tranquil retreat. And we saved a place for you.

Something New: On Tuesdays, we’ll be talking about families and the joys and challenges that arise when we stretch across three (or more?) generations (child, parent, grandparent). The conversation began on January sixth  and we’ll continue until we run out of things to say. Everyone is welcome, and I hope to hear from each generation’s perspective.  I’m a grandmother now (praise be to God!), but I’m still a parent, and I’m still a child (my father is still living). And I remember my childhood, which included four loving grandparents.

Please join us.

  1. Had to chuckle. Our Basset is labeled a “trouble client” as she gets so nervous someone has to stay with her the whole time. Your photo does represent how we long to be safely sheltered and loved one during and after something that is emotional. Leaning into His arms as the hymn says. Blessings, Linda from Still Saturday.

    • Poppy is a rescue; someone mistreated her before she came to live with us. She’s unhappy any time she is out in the world–doesn’t even want to go outside on walks.

She is young and we’ve only had her for 4 months, so we’re hopeful that she’ll grow more comfortable over time.

I had a pair of basset hounds once. Clowns.

  2. As usual, you were a real “heart grabber” and I loved seeing this and hearing what you were sharing. Thanks you so much!! OH, BTW, I’ve been asked to take a photo of the gift you sent me and share it on FB. I’ll try in a day or two! What another treat!]
