Love Lives Here
Tomorrow we gather to give thanks. This year, I am especially thankful for our home.
Not because it is particularly fine or grand, as those words are commonly used to describe a house.
I am thankful for our home because it is the locus of our life as a family. We rest here, we reconnect here, we pray here. It’s where we go for long walks with our grandchildren, play ball with our dogs, share news of our day, nourish our bodies and our hearts.
That is fine and grand.
Tomorrow will mark our third Thanksgiving in our home. And for the third time we will welcome loved ones to join us at the table as we give thanks for the abundant blessings that God has bestowed upon us.
Those moments–when I sit down to a table crowded with people I love–are one of God’s greatest gifts to me.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your dear ones.
1 Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Worship the Lord with
gladness. Come before Him, singing with joy. 3 Acknowledge that the
Lord is God! He made us, and we are His. We are His people, the sheep
of His pasture. 4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His
courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. 5 For the
Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and His
faithfulness continues to each generation.
Psalm 100 (NLT)
