Bearing Accolades

Wind in my Sails
I was startled to be featured on Thursday by the good people of The High Calling. They chose to include my post, Wealth or Love, in their monthly roundup of notable blogs.
It’s a great honor, as more than 1,300 blogs and more than 13,000 posts were evaluated. Surrounded by such great writers, I’m humbled. I’m also, I must admit, proud. And I’m excited, for three reasons:
First, I write to glorify God. When other godly writers commend my efforts, that affirmation holds special value for me, much as laudatory words from a chef would validate my culinary endeavors even more than my husband’s praise does.

Second, I also write as an act of worship and spiritual discipline. I post on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Sometimes I come to the keyboard inspired: the words flow, my course is clear, and I make good headway. Other days, I feel becalmed. I drift along, waiting for a topic to surface, scanning the horizon like a marine biologist searching for an elusive species.

Thank you, High Calling, for filling my sails with encouragement.

Finally, I’m delighted to have an excuse to invite you to explore The High Calling. The editors create “community by actively listening and educating people about work, life, and God.” I’m confident the offerings there will engage you. Please take a look.

1 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,
2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.
3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
Philippians 2:1-4 (NASB)
