Crater Lake. June 2014.
Have you ever heard that old saying, If you have too many irons in the fire, you might smother the flames?
Me neither, to tell you the truth. I think I just made it up. But it has the vapid air of a platitude, doesn’t it?
It feels true, all the same. I have projects that need my attention. And I like the things that happen when I tend to my projects.
For example, I’m thrilled to be included in an anthology that’s coming out any minute now from InterVarsity Press. It’s called Soul Bare: Stories of Redemption by Emily P. Freeman, Sarah Bessey, Trillia Newbell and more and the inimitable Cara Sexton put it together. I got to sit at the cool kids’ table! This volume includes work by a whole bunch of amazing writers. And me.
I’m taking a blogging sabbatical/hiatus/furlough. One reason is so I can tend those other irons in the fire before they kill the flames. Another reason is so I can stave off giving up from sheer spread-too-thinnedness.
Have a beautiful/blessed/bountiful summer and I will be back here way before you miss me.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
